Signed in the casting base, good estate condition, with detailed casting, some rubbing to patina, slight wobble to base. "Jiji" and "Gisella" are depicted in playful action with ball, on an oval base with engraved carpet medallion motifs. Mêne received much of his early sculpting and foundry experience via his father Dominique. Mene was influenced by artists Rene Compaire, Edwin Landseer and Carle Vernet, as well as his studies at the "Jardin des Plantes" in Paris. His statuettes are often known for their naturalism and in capturing animals in repose or at a moment at play. Mêne exhibited regularly throughout France and Great Britian, and received a series of prestigious awards from the Paris Salon, and "Cross of the Legion of Honor" in 1861.

Frame dimensions 51 x 39 in. 1967, pencil signed and numbered 45/75, printed by Art Adrien Maeght, published by Maeght Éditeur, Paris, on chiffon de Mandeure paper, presumably the full sheet with a deckle edge at right, framed. Duthuit 428.

Frame dimensions 19 3/4 x 24 1/8 in., not examined out of frame. 1934, pencil signed at lower right, & edition of 47. Overall good condition and a nice impression; slight toning; very small moisture stain beneath signature.

Frame dimensions 38 1/2 x 30 1/2 in. 2001, pencil signed, titled, and numbered 83/125 lower margin, matted and framed. Not examined out of frame. Good estate condition; some very slight sheet rippling likely inherent to paper; single, small foxing mark upper right margin

Frame dimensions 29 5/8 x 25 1/8 in., excellent visible condition; not examined out of frame. 1953, possibly printed later, pencil signed to the mount at lower right, retains gallery label to verso, matted and framed.

Frame dimensions 31 x 41 in. Signed at lower right, inscribed on lower stretcher with artist's name and stretcher size, and presented in a later period appropriate frame. Scattered retouch visible under UV light; minor stable craquelure.

Framed dimensions 34 3/4 x 27 in., not examined outside of the frame. Pencil signed Toko Shinoda, titled "Spiritual", and numbered 12/35, framed in Japan with double mats in a wooden frame. Toko Shinoda passed last year at 107 years old and was still creating abstract expressionist style art works. She has been a powerhouse artist from the beginning, exhibiting at the MoMA in the 1950s. Her art works are held in many major art museum collections across the world.
